In 2023, Albaraka Türk continued its cooperation with the Turkish Foundation for the Prevention of Waste (Türkiye Grameen Microfinance Program-TGMP), which was established in 2022, and continued to extend microcredit to microentrepreneurs in the Aegean, Central Anatolia, Black Sea, Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions. With the project, Albaraka Türk has extended microcredit to 521 microentrepreneurs since its beginning and continues to work in the field of vulnerable groups. In this year's phase of the project, earthquake victims affected by the earthquake disaster in February were prioritized and citizens in the earthquake region were selected as the focus group in order to contribute to their family economies. In 2021, in the social impact analysis prepared by Social Value UK, it was calculated that every TL 1 support provided by the Turkish Grameen Microfinance Program generated a social impact of TL 4.05, and together with the supports and redisbursements made by Albaraka Türk, a total social impact of TL 14 million 725 thousand 800 was observed. The Impact Investment Platform (Etkiyap) also measured the social value created by TGMP and the social return on investment. The report analyzed the investments made by micro-entrepreneurs as well as TGMP and the institutions that fund TGMP. According to the results of the analysis, there are positive impacts such as expansion of social circle, increase in purchasing power, improvement in family relations, respect from others, increase in self-confidence, increase in emotional well-being, increase in occupational well-being, increase in quality of social life, and ability to cope with financial problems.
